A birthday cake has one job: to come out of the box looking like somebody cared. For 42 years that has been our job at Roberto’s, from our shop on the Pacific Highway at Springwood. We bake for first birthdays, 18ths, 21sts, 50ths and the ones nobody wants a fuss made of. Some are collected in ten minutes on the way home. Some are designed weeks ahead.

Ready-made birthday cakes you can collect
If the party is tonight, this is the fastest route. These are baked here and ready to go from our Springwood store.
- Happy Birthday Cake — already decorated and ready to collect.
- Rainbow Cake — coloured sponge layers. The reaction when it is cut is the whole point.
- Chocolate Cake — the one that never gets sent back.
- Zebra Cake — chocolate and vanilla swirled into stripes through every slice.
- Red Velvet Cake — cream cheese icing, and it photographs well.
- Carrot Cake — for the birthday that skews a little older.

Cheesecake instead of cake
Plenty of people would rather have a cheesecake on their birthday, and we are named after ours. A Biscoff baked cheesecake or a chilled Oreo cheesecake with candles in it counts. Nobody has ever complained.

Custom birthday cakes
For something specific — a theme, a photo, a shape, a colour that has to match the invitations — we make it to order. Tell us what the birthday person is into and we will tell you honestly whether we can do it and what it will involve.
18ths and 21sts
Milestone birthdays get treated differently, and usually there are more people to feed. Two things worth knowing: a larger cake is not the same as a taller one, and a cake that has to survive a warm room in a Queensland summer needs to be built for it. Ask us and we will point you the right way rather than sell you the biggest thing on the list.
We stock Eighteen and Twenty One acrylic toppers, and numbered glitter candles for every other year.
Gluten free and vegan birthday cakes
If somebody at the table cannot eat a standard cake, they should still get cake. We keep a gluten free and vegan range — including a gluten free carrot cake, a vegan chocolate cake and gluten free cupcakes — so you are not buying two separate desserts.

Roberto’s Cheesecakes, 3414–3416 Pacific Highway, Springwood QLD 4127. We are an easy run from Slacks Creek, Daisy Hill, Underwood, Rochedale South, Shailer Park, Loganholme and Cornubia, and worth the drive from further out on the southside.

Common questions
Can I order a birthday cake online?
Yes. Our ready-made cakes and cheesecakes can be ordered through the online shop and collected from Springwood.
Can you write a message on the cake?
Yes. We make custom chocolate plaques hand-piped with your own message, which can go on any cake — including one you have baked yourself.
Do you do birthday cakes for adults?
Most of what we sell goes to adults. Cheesecakes, gateaux, mud cakes and tortes all work as a birthday cake and tend to suit a grown-up table better than a novelty sponge.

Ordering and collection. Custom cakes need at least 5 working days notice; wedding cakes at least two weeks, and more over Christmas. We take a deposit to secure your date, with the balance paid before the cake goes into production. We are collection only from our Springwood store, and you choose your pickup date and time at the checkout. Full detail is in our guide on how far in advance to order.
